The Smith & Wesson Model 34 Kit Gun is a compact, 6-shot revolver chambered in .22 Long Rifle and designed for versatility. Available with either a 2-inch or 4-inch barrel, it featured adjustable sights and was intended to be easily carried in a hunting or fishing kit for small game hunting, target shooting, pest control, and self-defense. The Kit Gun series began in 1911 with the 22/32, an I-Frame .22LR revolver, often called the "pre-war" model. In 1953, Smith & Wesson introduced an improved version, the "22/32 Kit Gun, Model of 1953.” By 1958, the firearm was renamed the Model 34, and this designation remained until 1960, when it was redesigned with a slightly larger J-frame and reintroduced as the Model 34–1. The Model 34 continued to be produced until 1991.
