The Smith & Wesson Model 4013 Stainless (.40 S&W) is a compact, third-generation semi-automatic pistol that offers a rare blend of old-school metal-framed ruggedness, practical capacity, and modern concealability — it’s especially notable for its stainless-steel slide over an aluminum-alloy frame, giving a durable yet relatively light package. With a 3.5-inch barrel, the 4013 lands squarely in the compact class, making it quite manageable for concealed carry. The pistol functions in a traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) mode: the first shot from a decocked hammer is a long, deliberate double-action pull, but subsequent shots are single-action with a much lighter, crisper break, which helps with both safety and accuracy. For control and handling, the 4013 features an ambidextrous, slide-mounted safety-decocker. The stock magazine capacity is eight rounds in some variants, though certain tactical or “TSW” versions bump that up. In terms of ergonomics, the grip is slim and wraps around the frame, giving a fairly natural hold even for shooters with smaller hands.
