Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The .22 Long Rifle double-action revolver is built on the rare square-butt JAT target frame, with some rare examples featuring a round-butt variant. It has an aluminum alloy construction with a 3-screw design, and the alloy cylinder and target frame are also made of JAT alloy. The revolver is typically equipped with a 3-1/2" barrel, although a rare 2" barrel version is also known to exist. It features a 1/10" serrated ramp front sight and a micrometer-click rear sight. The 6-shot, fluted, and counterbored alloy cylinder has a nominal length of 1.44". This model was available in either a blue or nickel finish, with nickel being particularly scarce. The revolver also includes a narrow top rib with a pinned barrel, and walnut Magna-style grips adorned with S&W medallions and a diamond-shaped escutcheon around the screw. There are three observed variations of the flat latch thumbpiece, and the backstrap is smooth. A small S&W trademark is stamped on the frame. Notably, this model is not marked as “Airweight.”

While some reports suggest this model may have been chambered in .22 Magnum Rimfire (M.R.F.), this has not been confirmed. Nickel-finished versions of the revolver, when inspected, may or may not have a small "N" on the grip strap or barrel flat. The original production serial number range was from 5000 to 135465, placing it within the 1953 Kit Gun series. It weighs 14-1/4 oz and was produced between approximately 1954 and 1974.
