Mechanically, the Model 457 utilizes a double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger system. The external hammer, deliberately designed without a thumb spur, minimizes snagging when drawing from concealment. A slide-mounted safety/decocker safely lowers the hammer and provides an added layer of user control.
