Bryant Ridge Auction Company is pleased to present this RARE traditional double-action semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction; this is the Smith & Wesson Model 559, also known as the 2nd Generation 9mm 14-Shot!
Between 1980 and 1982, 10,609 Model 559 guns were produced. The gun was introduced in 1980, with shipments starting in 1981, at approximately serial number A672,725. It was discontinued in October 1982, after 10,609 units had been produced. Of these, 8,973 had a blue finish, while 1,636 had a nickel finish.
This particular Smith & Wesson 559 bears serial #A761953 and features the coveted nickel finish, making this a very collectible piece for any Smith & Wesson collection!

The Model 559 is a 2nd generation 9mm pistol with a 14-shot capacity. It is the steel frame and slide variation of the Model 459 and operates with a traditional double-action. The gun has a 4-inch barrel and is finished with matte blue or nickel. Its front sight is a 1/8" serrated ramp, while the rear sight is drift adjustable for windage only. Early models have a short extractor, while later models come with a long extractor. The gun has an ambidextrous safety with a serrated back and fore strap. It also features a lanyard loop on the butt. The gun weighs 41 ounces and features an "A" serial prefix. Between 1980 and 1982, 10,609 Model 559 guns were produced.
