Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 61, also known as the Pocket Escort or Smith & Wesson Escort, was a subcompact semi-automatic pistol designed for self-defense and manufactured from 1970 to 1973. This blowback-operated pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle was based on the Bayard 1908 (Pieper Bayard) pistol and was marketed to fill a gap in the pocket auto market after the ban on the importation of small, concealable handguns. The pistol was available in blued or nickel-plated finishes and came with black or white plastic grip panels.
However, the early models had multiple reliability issues. According to Jim Supica, a Smith & Wesson historian, many of the pistols were returned to the factory for repair but were not actually fixed. Instead, employees at Smith & Wesson would take a new pistol off the line, restamp the serial number, and ship the pistol to the customer in place of the old one because repair time would have been too costly.
Contents:
This example will ship with the matching factory-labeled box, a soft pouch, cleaning tools, and paperwork pictured above!
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
