The 629 has been made in a variety of configurations since 1979 filling just about any role that could be asked of a .44 Magnum revolver. This example is the 629-4 Classic Carry, with a 3″ barrel, unfluted cylinder, and round-butt. As the name suggests, this would be a great carry gun. The .44 Magnum is a stout round and will be good protection against just about anything you’ll encounter in North America and the .44 Special can be used for target shooting, which will be a little more kind to your wrists. As great a carry gun as this would make, this model was only offered for one year in 1999 and would make a nice addition for a collector who enjoys having limited production Smith models.
