Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The understanding of these models remains incomplete. It appears that limited numbers of the following ten model-designated auto-pistols were produced, all with RSR serial number prefixes, and presumably all distributed through the major distributor RSR. The few observed examples seem to be generally based on 3rd Generation-style frames, although there have been unverified reports suggesting these may be built on 2nd Generation-type frames, possibly incorporating some 3rd Generation features. Whether these models represent transitional designs from the 2nd to 3rd Generation, were made to use leftover parts, or were special order configurations remains unclear. The verified examples suggest production during the early 1990s, a couple of years after the introduction of the 3rd Generation series. In many cases, the four-digit model numbers appear to consist of the three-digit model number of a comparable 2nd Generation pistol, with a fourth digit added (e.g., the Model 4690 shares many characteristics with the Model 469). However, this numbering system does not follow the same pattern as 3rd Generation four-digit model designations.

All of these models are believed to be traditional double-action pistols. The estimated production quantities vary, with some models being described as "scarce" (fewer than 900 units produced), others as "rare" (200 to 400 units produced), and some as "quite rare" (fewer than 200 units). Due to limited collector awareness, valuing these pistols remains difficult, and there are few dedicated modern Smith & Wesson auto-pistol collectors. Additional information and verification would be valuable in clarifying the history and specifics of these models.
