Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
This firearm, the Smith & Wesson Double Action 4th Model, is equipped with a 5-shot fluted cylinder that is approximately 1.21 inches long. It is available in barrel lengths of 3 1/4 inches, 4 inches, 5 inches, or 6 inches. The checkered hard rubber grips feature S&W monograms or target extension stocks on a round butt frame. You can choose between a blue finish or a nickel finish with nickel having a blue trigger guard. It is similar to the 3rd model but has modifications to the sear for a better DA pull. The top-break action is another notable feature, and the side plate is secured with just one screw. The service sights consist of a round blade front sight pinned in the barrel rib, and the rear sight is a notch cut in a raised portion of the barrel latch. The Smith & Wesson Double Action 4th model serial range was from 322701 to 539000, with approximately 216,300 models manufactured between 1895-1909.
