Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The aptly named "I-Frame" Hand Ejector revolver was so named because, quite literally, "I have to swing open the cylinder and eject the shells myself." Introduced in 1896, this was apparently an incredibly innovative design. Prior to this, pistols like the Schofield were popular due to the easy, top-break, automatic shell ejecting mechanism. However, solid frame revolvers like the Hand Ejector were gaining new ground and were becoming more capable of handling higher pressures. In fact, in 1899, a scaled up version of the I-Frame, known as the "K-Frame", was introduced that was able to contain the .38 Special cartridge.
Though technically, the I-Frame was the first ever designed revolver with a swing-open cylinder, it certainly marked a "before/after" point in Smith & Wesson's revolver design history. Pretty much ever since, Smith & Wesson revolvers to come out of the Springfield, Massachusetts plant looked just like Smith & Wessons are supposed to. With just a few adjustments, the basic design from then until now has remained largely the same.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
