The Smith & Wesson K-22 Outdoorsman, also known as the K22 1st Model, is a classic .22 Long Rifle revolver designed for precision shooting and durability. Built on the square butt K-frame with five screws, it embodies the hallmark design features of early 20th-century Smith & Wesson revolvers. The K-22 Outdoorsman is equipped with a 6-shot fluted cylinder with counterbores, enhancing its reliability and smooth operation. Its 6-inch pinned and tapered barrel contributes to its sleek, streamlined appearance and provides excellent balance and accuracy. The barrel is complemented by a Partridge front sight, a favored choice for precision shooters, and a square-notch rear sight that allows for precise windage and elevation adjustments. These features, combined with the revolver's robust construction, make it a popular choice for target shooting and small-game hunting.
 
Mechanically, the K-22 Outdoorsman is built on the .38 Hand Ejector frame, yet chambered specifically for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. This revolver also includes a floating firing pin, a flat-faced hammer, and a non-shrouded extractor rod, all of which contribute to its smooth and reliable action. The checkered walnut grips with Smith & Wesson medallions provide a comfortable and secure hold, further enhancing its shooting performance.
