The Smith & Wesson® M&P® 40 Pro Series® is a reliable and easy-to-use semi-automatic pistol that is suitable for self-defense and competition shooting purposes. It has improved features, such as a smooth and light trigger pull, steel front and rear night sights, and an extremely tight barrel-to-slide and slide-to-frame fit. The M&P 40 has a polymer frame and comes from the factory with three palm-swell panels (NOT included in this example) that can be easily interchanged without tools to fit the hands of any shooter. The frame has an integral accessory rail that allows for the attachment of after-market tactical flashlights or laser sights. The stainless steel slide is finished with durable black oxide and has rear cocking serrations that provide a secure grip when loading or clearing the action. The M&P has a slide release lever on both sides of the frame, and the magazine release is reversible. The pistol is striker-fired, meaning that its trigger system prevents the firearm from discharging unless the trigger is fully depressed, even if the pistol is dropped. The trigger pull is smooth and clean, breaking predictably. All M&P pistols can be easily disassembled without the need for tools.
