The Spanish M44 Air Force Mauser was based on the German K98 rifle used in WWII. It was first introduced in 1944 and was a high-quality weapon. The M44 used the same powerful 8mm cartridge as the K98 and was essentially the same as the M43 model, with only minor changes made to the front sight, bayonet lug, and sling mounting points. This rifle was used exclusively by the Spanish Air Force and can be identified by the Air Force Eagle emblem stamped on the receiver. This M44 has a smooth wooden stock and a protected blade front with an adjustable v-notched sliding escalator rear sight.
