The M1A rifle, produced by Springfield Armory, Inc. since 1971, is a semi-automatic firearm designed for civilian and law enforcement use in the United States. It is based on the M14 rifle and is sold under Springfield Armory's proprietary name "M1A". Initially, early versions of the M1A were assembled with surplus G.I. parts. However, Springfield Armory, Inc. began manufacturing their own parts and improving the design. In 1974, Robert Reese purchased Springfield Armory from Elmer Ballance and relocated manufacturing to Geneseo, Illinois.
This M1A rifle from Springfield Armory is chambered in the 7.62x51 Nato round. It comes with the original synthetic stock painted in a mottled flat white (Winter Camo) finish, a 22" barrel with a flash suppressor attached, and a bayonet lug. The rifle also features a Winged protected blade front sight and an adjustable aperture rear sight that completes the package!
