Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Since the introduction of the model SL and L in the early 1968, big game hunters have been waiting for the Steyr-Mannlicher in the calibers, up to .458 Winchester Magnum in size. Stoeger Arms Corporation announced the availability of these models early in 1969.
While many significantly unique features have been incorporated in the design of the new Steyr-Mannlicher series, the size and balance of each model is beautifully matched to a particular caliber range. Bolt travel, balance, handling qualities, shooting comfort and general performance is thereby maintained at the highest levels.
In general, the models M and S have the same specifications as the models SL, and L. These are described in detail on the precedings page. M and S models differ only in caliber, action length, rate of twist, magazine capacity and overall length and weight. In all models the choice of single or double-set trigger is optional.
While the models SL, L, and M may be had in carbine as well as rifle styling, the Model S is made only as a rifle because the large magnum calibers cannot be handled comfortably in short-barreled lightweight guns.
