Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Thompson/Center Arms was a firearms company based in Springfield, Massachusetts, which was popular for its range of single-shot pistols and rifles with interchangeable barrels. The company also produced muzzle-loading rifles and is credited with bringing back the use of these rifles in the 1970s.
Designed as a hunting and sporting rifle, the TCR uniquely differs from other firearms. Its break-open action is relatively simple to understand and safe. There are two different models of TCR rifles, which T/C no longer produces. The initial model, known as the TCR-83 or Aristocrat, has double-set triggers and was launched in 1983 but was discontinued around 1986. In 1987, T/C reintroduced the TCR with a single trigger called the TCR-87 or Hunter. This model remained in production until 1993 or 1995 (depending on who’s telling the story). Like the TCR 83 it replaced, the TCR 87 was designed to offer hunters and shooters a platform that provided the versatility of interchangeable barrels to cover a wide range of hunting and shooting needs. It was offered in 11 rifle calibers, including two magnums and 12-gauge.
