Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The NRA was founded in 1871 by a group of National Guard officers who had served in the Civil War and were concerned about marksmanship and national defense. Today, the NRA is comprised of nearly four million members who share a common bond – an appreciation of firearms, a commitment to safety and responsibility, and a belief in the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Never before in our country’s remarkable history has “America’s First Freedom” been challenged as it has in recent years. Ever vigilant in the preservation of “America’s First Freedom,” the NRA and its members have become a potent political voice, expressing their concerns and taking the lead in the battle to uphold the validity of the United States Constitution’s Second Amendment.
America Remembers proudly salutes the National Rifle Association’s heritage and ongoing role as America’s first line of defense in preserving the rights our Founding Fathers established for us. For this historic Tribute, America Remembers selected the legendary Henry Rifle, a classic lever-action rifle that revolutionized firearms history.
