This is a pre-ban commercial variant of the RK 71 assault rifle known as the M71/S and was the first .223 chambered AK pattern rifle imported into the United States in the 1970s!

The RK 71 is an assault rifle designed and manufactured by Valmet, a Finnish company. It is based on the Soviet AK-47 and is an improved version of the RK 62. The Finnish Defence Forces tested the 7.62 RK 71 from 1971 to 1973 as a possible replacement for the RK 62, but logistics issues prevented its widespread adoption. The rifle was also exported to Qatar.

In the 1970s, a commercial version of the RK 71 assault rifle was imported to the United States and was known as the M71/S. These rifles were the first AK pattern rifles chambered for .223 Remington and imported into the United States. This M71/S features a fixed walnut buttstock, a polymer pistol grip and handguard. It has a 16 1/2" barrel with a three-prong flash hider and bayonet lug, allowing the option to mount a bayonet. The rifle has a winged protected white dot post front and an adjustable dual white dot elevator rear, enhancing accuracy at longer distances. Additionally, it has a durable parkerized finish that reduces the chance of corrosion.
