Item Description
Some collectors and auction specialists estimate that as few as 1,000—or possibly fewer—Colt Kodiak revolvers were produced in the 4-inch configuration, placing it firmly in the category of “extremely rare.” Widely regarded as one of the rarest and most desirable revolvers ever manufactured by Colt, the Kodiak surpasses even iconic models such as the Python, Diamondback, King Cobra, and Grizzly in overall scarcity. Produced in 1993 in a strictly limited run of just 2,000 total examples, the Kodiak is based on the Colt Anaconda platform and is distinguished by its Mag-Na-Ported barrel, non-fluted cylinder, and exclusive factory roll mark “COLT KODIAK / .44 Magnum” with a unique bear paw motif found on no other Colt revolver. All genuine Colt Kodiak revolvers featured a factory-integrated ported barrel for recoil reduction, with original 1990s models using trapezoidal ports and current production versions employing six-round ports, three on each side of the top rib. All examples carry the special “CKA” serial number prefix, further confirming their limited and identifiable nature. Due to its exceptionally low production numbers, distinctive factory features, and rarity—especially in original, unaltered condition—the Colt Kodiak stands among the elite tier of Colt revolvers and is considered a cornerstone acquisition for advanced collectors.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Kodiak is widely regarded as one of the rarest and most desirable revolvers ever produced by Colt, eclipsing even the famed Python, Diamondback, King Cobra, and Grizzly in scarcity. Highly sought after by advanced collectors, the Kodiak was a strictly limited-production model, with only 2,000 examples manufactured in 1993, making it exceptionally difficult to find on today’s market—particularly in original, unaltered condition. Its rarity alone places it among the elite tier of Colt “snake” and big-frame revolvers, but its unique features further elevate its collectability.
