Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Waffenfabrik Bern Model 1906/29—commonly referred to as the Swiss 06/29 Luger—is a refined, domestically produced evolution of the classic Luger pistol, tailored specifically for Swiss military service. Officially adopted by the Swiss Army in 1929, full-scale production at the federal arms factory in Bern began in 1933 and continued through 1946. Chambered in 7.65x21mm (.30 Luger), the 06/29 simplified earlier Luger designs by incorporating a straight grip frame, flat toggle knobs, a longer grip safety, and overall smoother surfaces, all intended to streamline production without sacrificing reliability or accuracy. Approximately 27,940 were manufactured, bearing serial numbers from 50,001 to 77,941. Early examples featured canevasite grips, which were later replaced with more durable Bakelite-style materials as production evolved.

These pistols are marked with the iconic Swiss cross-in-shield emblem on the toggle and often carry the proof mark of Colonel Mühlemann on the barrel. Though eventually succeeded by the SIG P210 beginning in the late 1940s, the 06/29 remained in limited Swiss service into the 1960s. Today, collectors prize these finely crafted pistols for their precision, reliability, and distinctively Swiss engineering heritage.
