Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Walther TP and TPH handguns are compact, lightweight, double-action semi-automatic pistols in .22 Long Rifle and .25 ACP calibers. These pistols are often called pocket pistols or Taschen Pistolen in German, with TPH standing for the Taschen Pistole, Hahn, or "pocket pistol, hammer" variant. Walther manufactured the TP from 1961 to 1971, and the improved TPH has been in production since 1968. The models have been produced in Germany and the US (by Interarms).
The TPH operates through blow-back and does not utilize a breech locking mechanism. The barrel is fixed to the frame and fits firmly in the slide, eliminating the need for a bushing. The recoil spring is placed around the barrel and is held in place by the slide, so no bushing is required. Unlike the Walther TP, which has an open-top slide, the TPH has a closed breech with a window for ejection. The extractor is a steel piece shaped like the letter "L" and is supported by a spring. It is positioned in a slot on the right side of the frame next to the striker. The ejector is located on the left side of the breech block behind the magazine well, and the connector runs externally on the right side of the frame, beneath the right grip plate. The firing pin and striker spring are integrated into a single piece and extend through the safety arbor, which holds them in place. The safety lever is fixed to the arbor and is located on the left side of the slide. The lever turns 60 degrees, similar to the late PPK models, with the down position being safe and the up position being firing. When in the firing position, a red mark is visible.
