Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Here we present an antique Whitneyville Armory No. 1 Spur Trigger .22 Rimfire Revolver, made circa the 1870s in Connecticut. Eli Whitney established his Whitneyville Armory 1798, and produced firearms by contract for the young U.S. government among other things. Just prior to this, in 1793, Whitney invented the mechanical cotton gin, which dramatically changed the economic landscape in the U.S., namely in the South. Eli Whitney died in 1825, and his son, Eli Whitney Jr., took up the mantle of running the family business in 1841. Whitney Jr. seized the opportunity in 1847 to manufacture 1,000 of Samuel Colt’s latest revolver the Colt Walker revolver. Production of this revolver helped both parties immensely as it kept Colt in business and it allowed Whitney Jr. to tool up and gain experience making revolvers.
This little revolver is one of about 3,500 produced, and one of the very few of that number that was factory engraved. This revolver holds 5 shots of .32 rimfire short. The top of the barrel reads “WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CT. USA./PAT. MAY 23 1871”.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
