The Model 74 enjoyed moderate success and was quite popular, with some 406,574 produced by the time it was discontinued in 1955 Some amount of Model 74s would be purchased by the British Auxiliary Units during World War II. The weapon would be succeeded by the Winchester Model 141 in later years.
