Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
There are few artists whose careers in country music have spanned fifty years, and even fewer who have achieved the recognition and awards George Jones has received. George’s remarkable career has produced over 140 Top 40 country hits and numerous albums. This humble man who sings about the pain in his soul has now witnessed his career come full circle with the release of GEORGE JONES – 50 YEARS OF HITS, featuring timeless recordings from each year of his career.
George Jones was born and raised in Texas. Out of his impoverished youth came George’s love of music – his father played guitar and his mother played piano. They encouraged George to take an interest in music. At the age of nine, George’s father bought him his first guitar and the course of his life was set. It wasn’t long before the young boy who sang and played in the dusty streets of Beaumont, Texas for tips became one of America’s most beloved country music performers. George joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1950. After life as a leatherneck, George returned to Texas and resumed his music career. George’s first Top 10 country hit came in 1955 with “Why Baby, Why” and was followed by “White Lightning.” In 1980, Jones released “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” a song that will forever be remembered as one of the greatest country music songs ever recorded. The song vaulted George into country music superstardom.
At America Remembers, we take pride in honoring American heroes and legends. In honor of George’s lasting influence on America’s music and status as America’s greatest living country music singer, we proudly announce the George Jones 50th Anniversary Tribute Rifle. For the Tribute, we have selected the legendary Winchester Model 94 lever-action rifle. The focal point of this Tribute is the handsomely decorated receiver which features artwork celebrating George’s life and legendary career. Craftsmen commissioned specifically for this Tribute by America Remembers decorate each rifle in a combination of 24-karat gold and nickel, with special blackened patinaed highlights to accentuate the details. To ensure exclusivity, the George Jones 50th Anniversary Tribute Rifle is being issued in a strictly limited edition of only 100 pieces. Edition number 001 has been presented to George Jones.
