Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Winchester 1400 semi-auto 12-gauge / 20-gauge tube magazine shotgun debuted in 1964. The gun had simple, elegant lines. It also had a pump-action sister, the Winchester 1300, that was largely the same except the pump versus semi-auto action. Winchester 1400 continued with minor mechanical/cosmetic changes (and a Winchester 1400 Mark II name change) through the early 1990s.
The 1400’s receiver was lightweight aluminum. Thanks to modern (at the time) manufacturing and machining techniques, Winchester shaved half a pound of its receivers versus other comparable ones.
You could get the 1400 in 22” or 28” barrel lengths and with or without a rib vent. One aimed the gun using a gold bead front sight. The gun was shapely with a blued/black receiver, barrel, trigger guard, trigger, buttpad, vent rib, tube magazine, and magazine cap. The rest was American walnut with nice checkering on the forend and pistol grip.
Winchester had its very fast, very smooth, very easy, and very secure Armor-Lock four-lug rotary-bolt lockup. Winchester also had an Internal Recoil Reduction System that did an excellent job of recoil mitigation. The Winchester 1400 production ran until the mid-1990s. All were Made in USA.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
