Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Zastava M48, also known as Puška M.48 7,9 mm / M.48 7,9 mm, which means "Rifle M.48 7.9 mm", is a Yugoslavian version of the Belgian-designed M24 series, influenced by the German Karabiner 98k, that was produced after World War II. It served as the standard service rifle of the Yugoslav People's Army from the early 1950s until it was replaced by the Zastava M59/66 in the early 1960s, which was a licensed copy of the Soviet SKS semi-automatic carbine.
Interestingly, one of the finest examples of the Mauser series was not manufactured in Germany but in Yugoslavia during the late 1940s and 1950s. As part of Germany's reparations after World War II, Yugoslavia received tooling and equipment to produce the Mauser 98, specifically the Karabiner 98 kurz (K98k or KAR 98) version. The KAR 98 was the Wehrmacht's standard-issue infantry rifle until the end of the war. Despite the bolt-action infantry rifle becoming practically obsolete by then, Yugoslavia established the Preduzece 44 facility (part of Zastava) to manufacture the M48 Mauser variant. Preduzece 44 was later renamed the "Red Banner" plant.
During the years 1952 to 1965, stamped parts were included in the manufacturing process of the M48A rifle. The magazine floor plate was made using sheet metal stampings, which allowed for faster production and reduced costs. However, the bolt and receiver, which are critical components containing the pressure of the burning propellant within the cartridge case, retained the same material requirements and design tolerances in both the A and B variations.

We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
