Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Zastava M24/47 is a Yugoslavian bolt-action rifle that evolved from the earlier M24 model, which was based on the German Mauser design. The rifle was developed after World War II, with production beginning in 1947 as part of efforts to modernize the Yugoslav military’s arsenal. The M24/47 featured several improvements over its predecessor, including a modified stock and updated sights to enhance accuracy and functionality. Manufactured at the Zastava Arms factory and was widely adopted by the Yugoslav People’s Army and other forces during the late 1940s and into the 1950s, chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge, which provided excellent range and stopping power. Renowned for its reliability and precision, the M24/47 has become a sought-after collectible among firearms enthusiasts, representing a significant chapter in Yugoslav military history. Though largely replaced by modern firearms, surplus M24/47 rifles continue to be available on the civilian market, appealing to collectors and history buffs alike.
