Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The J. Stevens Arms Favorite Model 1915 is a compact, single-shot, falling-block rimfire rifle that represents the final and most refined iteration of Stevens’ long-running “Favorite” series. Introduced in 1915 and produced into the early 1930s, this model modernized the earlier 1894 and 1910 variants with stronger internal components, an improved takedown system, and updated aesthetics suited to the early 20th-century sporting market. Chambered for popular rimfire cartridges such as .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 Long Rifle, and .32 Rimfire, the Model 1915 was marketed as a light, accurate, and affordable rifle for youths, small-game hunters, and everyday utility use. Its compact size, smooth action, and straightforward disassembly made it a favorite—true to its name—among rural families and beginning shooters during a period when accessible rimfire rifles were becoming essential household tools.

Production of the Favorite Model 1915 continued until around 1935, ending as Stevens shifted toward more modern designs and the economic pressures of the Great Depression reshaped the firearms market. Despite its modest cost and utilitarian purpose, the rifle earned a strong reputation for durability and surprisingly good accuracy, ensuring it remained in service long after manufacturing ceased. Today, the Model 1915 is appreciated by collectors for its classic Stevens lines, period craftsmanship, and role in early American rimfire development. While not rare, surviving examples in original, unmodified condition—particularly those with clean bores and intact case coloring—are increasingly sought after, offering both historical appeal and a tangible connection to the formative years of American small-bore shooting.
