Rifles built from surplus Austrian StG-58 FAL parts kits are metric-pattern, battle-rifle builds that trace their origins to Austria’s Cold War small-arms production and reflect the engineering standards of mid-20th-century European military design. The StG-58 (Sturmgewehr 58) refers to Austria’s licensed version of the FN FAL, adopted in 1958 and initially produced by FN Herstal before licensed manufacture shifted to Steyr-Daimler-Puch; many examples were later retired from service and imported into the U.S. as demilitarized parts kits as surplus military arms.
