Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this gorgeous Italian-made single-action revolver for a penny-start auction; this is the Commemorative Roy Rogers “King of the Cowboys” Commissioned by the United States Historical Society!
The Roy Rogers .45 is a commemorative revolver created to honor the legendary "King of the Cowboys" on his 50th anniversary as an American folk hero. Produced in a limited edition of 2,500 by the U.S. Historical Society in partnership with the Roy Rogers–Dale Evans Museum in Victorville, California, this revolver pays tribute to Rogers’ enduring legacy both on screen and off. The revolver is richly decorated with 24-karat gold inscriptions, including “Roy Rogers, King of the Cowboys” on one side of the barrel and “U.S. Historical Society” on the other, along with detailed gold etchings such as Roy with his guitar, a musical bar from his iconic theme song Happy Trails on the cylinder, and the official 50th Anniversary symbol on the frame. Genuine hand-fitted stag grips further elevate its presentation, while each revolver is accompanied by an official Certificate of Authenticity signed by Roy Rogers himself. An optional handcrafted American cherrywood presentation case, lined in rich blue velvet and engraved with Rogers’ signature, was also offered to collectors, making this firearm not just a functional piece of history, but a cherished keepsake.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Italian-manufactured Single Action Army replica commemorative Roy Rogers “King of the Cowboys” revolver, commissioned by the United States Historical Society, is a finely crafted tribute to one of America’s most beloved folk heroes. Modeled after the legendary Colt Single Action Army—famously known as “the Peacemaker” or “Frontier Six-Shooter”—this revolver celebrates the firearm carried by countless figures of the Old West and immortalized on screen by Roy Rogers himself throughout his career. Produced in a limited edition, this commemorative replica was designed with exacting attention to detail, reflecting both the elegance of the original 1873 design and the artistry of modern embellishment. The revolver’s 24-karat gold inscriptions and motifs highlight Rogers’ lasting impact on American culture, with etchings that include his name, musical references to his iconic Happy Trails theme song, and anniversary markings celebrating his fifty years as “King of the Cowboys.” The use of genuine hand-fitted stag grips enhances its period authenticity, while the revolver’s construction by skilled Italian artisans ensures mechanical reliability and aesthetic excellence, in keeping with the traditions of European craftsmanship in fine firearm reproductions. What elevates this commemorative revolver beyond a functional replica is its symbolic and collector appeal. By combining the historic Single Action Army design with artwork specific to Roy Rogers, the United States Historical Society created not just a firearm, but a cultural artifact that embodies mid-20th-century Americana and Western nostalgia. Collectors value these revolvers not only for their limited production numbers but also for their connection to Rogers’ personal legacy as a marksman, entertainer, and ambassador of cowboy values. Many examples were paired with optional handcrafted presentation cases in cherrywood with blue velvet linings, engraved with Rogers’ signature to further heighten their presentation value. Today, these commemoratives occupy a unique niche at the intersection of Western heritage and firearm collecting, appealing both to fans of Roy Rogers and enthusiasts of Single Action Army-style revolvers. Their desirability stems less from utility and more from the artistry, history, and cultural resonance they represent, making them standout pieces in any collection of 20th-century commemorative firearms.
