The Winchester Model 9422M was the magnum variant of the highly regarded 9422 lever-action rimfire series, chambered for the powerful .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (.22 WMR). Introduced in the early 1970s, the 9422M offered the same classic handling and smooth cycling as its .22 LR counterpart, but with a substantial increase in velocity and energy, making it a practical choice for small game hunting, varmint control, and even close-range pest management where extra punch was required. Like the standard 9422, it featured a scaled-down version of Winchester’s legendary lever-action design, closely resembling the Model 94 but re-engineered for rimfire cartridges. The 9422M used a robust, precisely fitted internal mechanism with a closed receiver, which not only gave it excellent durability but also contributed to the silky-smooth lever throw that made it one of the most enjoyable rimfires to operate. Its tubular magazine under the barrel typically held 11 rounds of .22 WMR, offering generous capacity for extended shooting sessions.
