The Winchester Model 68 is a single-shot, bolt-action .22 caliber rimfire rifle introduced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1934 as a slightly more “target-oriented” variant of the earlier Model 67, and it was discontinued in 1946. It is chambered to fire .22 Short, .22 Long, or .22 Long Rifle cartridges interchangeably, and comes with a 27-inch barrel equipped with a hooded blade front sight and an adjustable notch rear sight. The Model 68 also features a plain walnut stock offering a traditional look and feel. The action must be manually cocked after closing the bolt, and each round is loaded singly into the chamber. Approximately 100,000 Model 68 rifles were manufactured, and like many pre-1968 Winchester .22 rifles, they were not serial-numbered.
