The Zastava M48A is a Yugoslavian evolution of the Mauser bolt-action tradition that blends proven Mauser mechanics with post-war Yugoslav manufacturing pragmatism. Developed in the early 1950s at the Kragujevac works using tooling and influences from both the Belgian M24 series and the German K98k, the M48 family was produced in several iterations to simplify production, of which the M48A represents the intermediate form, incorporating some stamped components for economy.
