The Winchester Model 1897 is one of the most iconic and historically significant pump-action shotguns ever produced, designed by the legendary firearms engineer John Moses Browning and manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Company beginning in 1897. Often referred to as the “Model 97,” this shotgun was a direct evolution of the earlier Model 1893 but redesigned to safely handle the then-new smokeless powder cartridges, making it a major step forward in shotgun development.
