The Winchester Model 1907 was first produced in 1907 and discontinued in 1957. This particular example was produced in 1908, which was the second year of production.

The Winchester Model 1907 (also known as the Winchester 07) is a pioneering blowback-operated, semi-automatic rifle that stands as one of history's most iconic early self-loading firearms. Designed by Thomas Crossley Johnson as an improvement over the earlier Model 1905, it was exclusively chambered for a proprietary centerfire cartridge: the .351 Winchester Self-Loading (.351 WSL). Introduced to the public in 1907, the rifle quickly earned a reputation for its rapid-fire capability and hard-hitting, intermediate-power performance. Production by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company spanned a half-century, running continuously from 1907 until 1957. To resolve common field issues, Winchester introduced updates to the critical design in 1935. These changes included thickening the wooden forearm to prevent cracking and redesigning the unique under-barrel operating rod—replacing the original small tip with a contoured, hook-style handle for easier manual cocking.
