The 1914 Colt Model 1911 U.S. Army is an important early-production example of the legendary American service pistol that helped define the modern semi-automatic handgun. Manufactured by Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company under U.S. military contract, this pistol was chambered in .45 ACP and built around the proven single-action, recoil-operated design developed by John Moses Browning. Featuring a 5-inch barrel, 7-round detachable magazine, fixed sights, and forged steel construction, the Model 1911 was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1911 as a powerful and reliable sidearm intended to replace the earlier .38 caliber revolvers in military service. Produced just prior to America's entry into World War I, the 1914 Colt Model 1911 represents the classic early configuration before later M1911A1 improvements were introduced in the 1920s. 
 
These early pistols are distinguished by features such as the long trigger, flat mainspring housing, short grip safety spur, rounded hammer, and early-style sights. Many 1914 examples saw service during World War I with American soldiers and officers, making them highly desirable among military arms collectors today. Original examples retaining correct Colt markings, military acceptance stamps, period-correct finish, and matching components are especially valued. Combining Colt craftsmanship, Browning's groundbreaking design, and a direct connection to U.S. military history, the 1914 Colt Model 1911 U.S. Army remains one of the most collectible and historically significant American service pistols ever produced.
