Markings: Standard / The top of the chamber is marked with the date of manufacture “1920". The top of the toggle is marked “DWM” and “15”. The left side of the breechblock is marked with an Eagle proof mark. The right side of the receiver is marked with three Eagle proof marks. The top of the barrel is also marked with an Eagle proof mark. The bottom of the barrel is marked with the serial number “315b” and “8,84”. The front of the frame is also marked with the serial number “315b”. The frontstrap is marked “S. Hn. III. 7. 135”. All parts appear to have matching serial numbers. The original magazine -with the wooden bottom- also features the matching serial number “315” and the marking “S.H. III. 7. 135.” The spare magazine -with the aluminum bottom- is marked “7485g” and a “Eagle/63”.

The Pistole Parabellum, commonly known as the Luger or Pistole 08 (P.08), is a toggle-locked, recoil-operated semi-automatic pistol renowned for its distinctive design and historical significance. Developed by Austro-Hungarian firearms designer Georg Luger, the pistol was patented in 1898 as a major improvement over the earlier Borchardt C-93. It was first manufactured by the German arms firm Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) under the name “Parabellum Automatic Pistol, Borchardt-Luger System.” While the earliest models from 1900 were chambered in 7.65×21mm Parabellum, Luger developed the iconic 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge in 1902 to meet military demands for greater stopping power. Following adoption by the Swiss military in 1900 and the Imperial German Navy as the Marinepistole 1904, the firearm reached its definitive military configuration when the German Army officially adopted it in 1908 as the Pistole 08 (P.08), featuring a 4-inch barrel and no grip safety. Beyond Germany, various configurations of the Parabellum pistol were adopted as standard service sidearms by several countries, including Switzerland, Portugal, the Netherlands, Brazil, Bolivia, and Bulgaria. The P.08 is one of the most famously associated handguns used by Germany during both World Wars, the interwar Weimar Republic, and the postwar East German Volkspolizei. Despite its eventual replacement by the Walther P38 as the standard German service pistol in 1938, production of the P.08 continued into World War II, and it remains an iconic symbol of 20th-century firearm design.
