This example has the factory letter stating it was purchased by Winchester Repeating Arms Company.
It was shipped to the British Purchasing Commission before the United States' involvement in World War II.
This example has remained in its original configuration over the years and presents very well!

The Colt Official Police is one of the most iconic double-action revolvers ever produced by Colt's Manufacturing Company, serving as a standard sidearm for countless law-enforcement agencies throughout the United States and around the world during much of the 20th century. Introduced in 1927 as the successor to the Colt Army Special, the Official Police was built on Colt’s medium-sized E-frame and became renowned for its durability, accuracy, and refined craftsmanship. Chambered most commonly in .38 Special, although other chamberings were offered throughout its production life, the revolver featured a six-shot cylinder and was available with several barrel lengths, with the 4-inch version becoming especially popular among police officers.
