The Springfield M1 Garand is one of the most iconic and influential military rifles ever produced, developed by John C. Garand and manufactured primarily at Springfield Armory for use by U.S. forces during World War II and the Korean War. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, the M1 Garand was the first standard-issue semi-automatic rifle adopted by a major military power, giving American infantry a significant advantage in rate of fire over opponents armed largely with bolt-action rifles.
