The Quality Hardware U.S. Carbine, Caliber .30, M1 is a lightweight gas-operated, semi-automatic military carbinechambered in .30 Carbine, manufactured by Quality Hardware & Machine Corporation of Chicago during World War II. As one of only 10 prime contractors selected to produce the M1 Carbine for the U.S. military, Quality Hardware manufactured approximately 359,666 carbines between 1943 and 1944. Although the company did not produce all of its own components, its carbines met the same rigorous military specifications as those produced by other wartime contractors and served extensively with U.S. forces throughout World War II and the Korean War.
