The 1955 Ruger Standard is an early-production example of the pistol that launched Sturm, Ruger & Co. and forever changed the American rimfire handgun market. Introduced in 1949 as the company's very first firearm, the Ruger Standard quickly earned a reputation for reliability, affordability, and exceptional accuracy, and by 1955 it had become one of the most successful .22-caliber pistols in the country.
