Introduced in 1957 during the height of television Western popularity, the Colt Single Action Frontier Scout was engineered as a scaled-down 7/8ths size rendition of the famous Single Action Army (SAA) "Peacemaker". Utilizing a lightweight black anodized aluminum alloy frame paired with a steel barrel and cylinder, the Frontier Scout provided single-action fans with an affordable, extremely fun-to-shoot .22 LR plinking revolver. Early "F" serial suffix models produced between 1957 and 1970 remain widely favored among collectors for their historic early production quality and classic SAA handling characteristics.
This exact revolver, serial number 47487F, was manufactured at the Hartford, Connecticut plant in 1958. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 6-shot cylinder, it features a 4.75-inch barrel with ejector rod assembly, original blued barrel/cylinder finish, black anodized alloy frame, polished hammer sides, and original checkered black hard rubber Rampant Colt grips.
