Manufactured exclusively in 1961 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the historic conflict, the Colt Civil War Centennial commemorative is an elegant single-shot pistol chambered in .22 Short. These scaled-down tribute pieces feature a 6" barrel and a striking, high-contrast finish pairing a gold-plated frame with a deep black barrel and cylinder, all beautifully accented by smooth walnut grips and traditional fixed sights consisting of a front blade and a hammer-grooved rear notch. Colt limited the total production run to approximately 24,000 units featuring sequential serial numbers ranging from 50W to 24189W (where the "W" suffix signifies "War"). While a small portion left the factory as single-cased handguns, the vast majority were distributed as consecutive, dual-pistol cased sets housed together inside a single premium presentation box with custom-fitted dual cutouts, making an exact sequential serial number sequence the hallmark of an authentic, highly collectible factory-matched pair.
