Built on Colt's hand-fitted "I-frame" platform, the Python became legendary for its full ejector rod shroud, ventilated top barrel rib, hand-tuned internal lockwork, and exceptionally tight cylinder lockup. Produced during the golden era of Hartford craftsmanship in 1965, early 2nd-generation Pythons represent the pinnacle of post-war revolver engineering. While standard blued Pythons are highly desirable, original factory bright nickel-plated examples from the 1960s are far scarcer and highly sought after by premier Colt collectors worldwide.
