Tracing its lineage back to Smith & Wesson's famous .32 Hand Ejector Model of 1903 and the subsequent .32 Regulation Police of 1917, the Model 31 represents S&W's classic small-bore service and field revolver. Upgraded to the modern J-frame platform as the Model 31-1, it combined a lightweight frame with a mild-recoiling, highly accurate 6-shot .32 S&W Long cylinder. Prized for their exquisite early-70s craftsmanship, 31-1 revolvers featuring the full 4-inch pinned barrel and square-butt Regulation Police grips offer superb natural pointability and target precision.

This exact revolver, serial number H27063, was manufactured in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1971. Chambered in .32 S&W Long with a 6-shot cylinder capacity, it features a 4-inch pinned barrel, deep high-polish factory blued finish, color case-hardened spur hammer and serrated trigger, and original checkered walnut Regulation Police grips with gold S&W medallions. It comes remarkably complete in its original factory blue box with handwritten end label matching the serial number, along with the original instruction manual and cleaning rod with attachments. Presenting in outstanding condition overall with high-lustre bluing, mirror-bright bore, tight timing, and crisp DA/SA action, this complete 1971 S&W Model 31-1 Regulation Police package is an elite investment piece for Smith & Wesson collectors or classic revolver enthusiasts.
