Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
First introduced in 1969 to replace the original Trooper series, the Colt Trooper MK III represents a turning point in Colt's modern double-action revolver design. Engineered around a robust J-frame steel chassis, the MK III lineup pioneered Colt's lockwork redesign utilizing stainless steel coil springs, a transfer bar safety mechanism, and sintered steel internal components for unmatched durability. Chambered in the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge, the Trooper MK III was built as a heavy-duty law enforcement sidearm and target revolver. Outfitted with a rigid 6-inch heavy barrel, fully adjustable micrometer rear target sight, red ramp front sight, and hand-fitted checkered walnut target stocks, the Trooper MK III stands as a masterpiece of late 20th-century American revolver craft.
This specific example is an authentic Colt Trooper MK III double-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, bearing serial number J88586 indicating 1972 manufacture. Presented in excellent condition throughout, it features a 6-inch heavy target barrel, factory high-gloss Royal Blue finish, 6-shot fluted cylinder, wide checkered target hammer, red ramp front sight, adjustable rear sight, and original factory checkered walnut target grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions. The rich Royal Blue finish presents in outstanding overall shape with sharp edges, deep mirror polish, and minimal handling wear. Mechanically, cylinder lockup is bank-vault tight, the double-action pull is smooth, the single-action break is crisp, and the 6-inch barrel bore is mirror-bright with sharp rifling. Offering classic Snake-Gun era quality and timeless Colt styling, this Trooper MK III offers a centerpiece addition for Colt collectors.
