Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Introduced in 1873 and famously known as "The Gun That Won the West," the Colt Single Action Army stands as the single most iconic revolver in American history. Following WWII, Colt reintroduced the SAA in 1956 to satisfy immense demand from collectors, competitive shooters, and Western cinema enthusiasts, initiating the legendary Second Generation era (1956–1974). Revered for their exceptional hand-fitted craftsmanship, premium modern steel metallurgy, and classic traditional cylinder bushing construction, Second Generation Peacemakers represent the pinnacle of post-war Colt manufacturing. With the archetypal 5.5-inch "Artillery" barrel, chambered in the quintessential .45 Colt cartridge, and finished in Colt's timeless case-hardened frame and deep bluing, this model embodies the pure essence of the American frontier.
This specific example is an authentic 1973 Second Generation Colt Single Action Army chambered in .45 Colt, bearing serial number 67505SA. It features the classic 5.5-inch barrel, fixed sights, and original black checkered hard rubber grips adorned with the Federal American Eagle and Rampant Colt emblems. The color case-hardened frame retains rich, vibrant mottling across both sides, while the blued barrel, cylinder, and backstrap display honest, gentle handling character and a faint, light cylinder turn line. Mechanically, the hammer draws back through all four distinct, authoritative Colt clicks (C-O-L-T), the cylinder locks up tight and on time, and the 5.5-inch barrel bore is bright and mirror-clean with sharp, well-defined rifling throughout.
