Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Produced by Harrington & Richardson from 1977 to 1985 at their Gardner, Massachusetts manufacturing facility, the Model 700 was engineered as a premium, heavy-duty rimfire rifle chambered specifically for the hard-hitting .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (.22 WMR) cartridge. Built with a solid steel receiver, full-sized Monte Carlo walnut stock, and a smooth blowback action, the Model 700 provided hunters and varmint shooters with a reliable, quick-cycling magnum rimfire platform that handled like a centerfire sporting rifle.
This example, serial number AS500729, was manufactured in 1978 (identified by the "AS" serial number prefix). Chambered in .22 W.M.R.F., it features a 22-inch tapered barrel, deep factory blued finish, smooth American walnut stock with Monte Carlo comb, ramped front blade sight, white-diamond folding leaf rear sight, and factory drilled/tapped receiver. Exhibiting clean metal finish and sharp roll-stamps throughout, this Harrington & Richardson Model 700 represents a classic 1970s American magnum rimfire rifle.
