According to the owner, this example remains in "NEW OLD STOCK" condition, and we see no evidence to indicate otherwise!

Manufactured for an extremely limited window between 1980 and 1983, the Smith & Wesson Model 539 is among the rarest 2nd Generation autoloaders ever produced. As the direct carbon steel evolution of the classic Model 39-2, the 539 introduced key 2nd Gen upgrades including an improved firing pin safety, redesigned hammer spur, and a fully adjustable target rear sight with protective sight ears. With fewer than 8,000 blued units produced before Smith & Wesson transitioned heavily toward stainless steel and 3rd Gen models, the 539 remains a premier target for S&W autoloader purists.

This exact pistol, serial number A781561, was manufactured in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1982. Chambered in 9mm Luger with a 4-inch barrel, it features an all-carbon-steel frame and slide coated in a rich factory blued finish, decocking safety lever, adjustable rear sight, and original checkered walnut grips with gold S&W medallions. It comes exceptionally complete in its original factory blue metal-cornered box with handwritten end label matching the serial number, along with two (2) original 8-round factory magazines, cleaning kit with brush and swab attachments, chamber flag, and owner's instruction manual paperwork. Exhibiting incredible condition throughout with deep glossy bluing, sharp markings, a mirror-bright bore, and crisp DA/SA mechanics, this complete 1982 S&W Model 539 package is a crowning addition for any serious Smith & Wesson collector.
