The Colt Agent is a lightweight, six-shot revolver that was introduced by Colt in 1955 as a more easily carried version of the popular Colt Cobra. Chambered in .38 Special and built on Colt's compact D-frame, the Agent utilized an aluminum alloy frame to significantly reduce weight while retaining a steel barrel and cylinder for durability. Most examples feature a 2-inch barrel, exposed hammer, fixed sights, and traditional double-action/single-action operation, making the revolver well suited for concealed carry, backup duty, and personal defense. Weighing approximately 14 ounces, the Agent was noticeably lighter than the all-steel Colt Detective Special while still offering a six-round cylinder capacity, giving it an advantage over many competing lightweight revolvers of its era that carried only five rounds. Early production models were fitted with distinctive aluminum grip frames and slim stocks, while later versions incorporated design refinements and different grip styles.
